In Afghanistan, we saw 20 years of effort by the United States destroyed in just eleven days. When we see major natural disasters, centuries of development is destroyed in a very short period of time. Development takes time, but destruction is immediate. It takes years to experience peace and a split second to disturb it. It can take a lifetime to develop faith in God but if something precious is taken away from us we lose our faith. We take so many breaths to develop our minds and bodies; it takes only one moment to stop it. We have to go through numerous births to get human forms and we can take numerous human births but, if we truly mean, “no more,” the cycle of birth and death is over.
