We say we have faith in ourselves. What does it mean? Is it having self-confidence or is it our ego? I was in a car with my spiritual Master and was driving fast. I told him, “I will not get a speeding ticket, as you are with me.” He asked, “If you get a speeding ticket, will you lose your faith in me?” Faith can be driven by personal agendas. It comes out of our ignorance. We are controlled by our emotions. That is why devotion is a good emotion to have. We lose our minds, accept we know nothing, and use only our hearts. There are no expectations, and devotion does not get lost when things do not go our way, as with faith. You are only a devotee seeking grace, nothing more. So, faith limits our horizon and devotion only expands our hearts.— Satish Daryanani
