All temptations are given by God. Willpower, too, is given by God. What is the purpose of this game? Both come from the mind and yet, to attain God, we have to control the mind. All this is for His entertainment, at our expense. It’s like giving candy to a child and telling the child not to eat it. If this game would not be there, then how would we mind our minds? There is both the temptation to take us away from God and the willpower to bring us closer to God. It is easy to say we want God, so I guess temptations are a small price to pay. One day, when we are able to control the mind, we can yield to the temptations once in a while, so long as we never become enslaved to them. Then we can play with temptations like toys. — Satish Daryanani
